Wanted: Strategic Leader who can drive EHS improvements across 30+ manufacturing sites, taking an excellent program and making it the best it can be.
Growing company with multiple divisions seeks EHS expert who can identify areas of improvement and implement changes working through plant managers and workers. This person will convey EHS direction, vision and training expectations to the entire organization.
The Director of EHS provides leadership in regards to safety compliance and direction to managers and employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures. There is a consensus among Senior Management in all organizations involved to improve their safety programs and stay in compliance with all applicable local, state & federal rules & regulations governing their industry.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Position is strategic in nature.
Collaborate division and company-wide to identify and enhance programs
Analyze existing programs, identify best practices and implement or share new and more effective programs organization-wide.
Develop plans for improving methods of accountability and audit.
Investigate, evaluate and implement any new programs relevant to company goals i.e. Near Miss programs and Behavior Based Safety Training
Convey, in their implementation, the vision and commitment of the organization to safety.
Ensure compliance with all applicable EPA regulations regarding Air & Water permitting along with all other applicable regulations.
Work with the 3
party transportation company in compliance of all DOT regulations and driver safety programs.
Work with sales force in evaluating and implementing best practices in their safety programs.
People on your team
This person will be dealing with management at all levels in the organization including plant managers and will need to be able to establish their credibility in order to deal with them effectively.
Position reports to a Divison President
No direct reports initially
Plant Managers and Directors of Manufacturing in each division
Collaborate with EHS team in parent company
Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering or related field (MS degree preferred)
Minimum of 8-10 years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing related industry (food or traditional manufacturing – NO service related companies)
Must have multi-site experience (Company has over 30 locations)
Person will have a strong background in collaboration and reaching consensus
Excellent communication skills
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus
Accomplished in analyzing, evaluating and implementing effective safety programs organization-wide
Experience implementing behavior-based safety programs
Ability to manage multiple critical projects simultaneously.
Solid background in compliance of EPA regulations.
Experience with compliance of OSHA regulations in multiple states
Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
Ability to travel via air/vehicle on short notice as needed and up to 50% of time.
