An Aurora, Illinois based, $500 million+ a year perishable product producer is looking for a sales-focused, process-driven, solutions-minded people leader to continue to advance their "Lead in Logistics" corporate initiative. This critical role will be responsible for operational and financial management of all of this company's perishable and standard freight, logistics services and compliance as well as negotiation and coordination with brokered vendors providing freight services. Will directly manage a staff of four (two logistics coordinators and two logistics analysts).
Role will entail all coordination of carrier and other logistics providers including:
Selecting/negotiating/allocating company's logistics business to main carriers for domestic and international shipping.
Selection, setup and management of brokers, freight forwarders and other sub-contractors in the logistics flow.
Coordination of data interchange all logistics service providers.
Ensure compliance with import and export permitting requirements.
Critical periodic interaction with logistic regulation authorities (APHIS, CFIA and others) - maintenance of relationships for support when facing challenges.
Planning & Execution:
Coordination and planning with suppliers of freight capacities on key routes.
Day-to-day oversight of the company's Traffic Team that interchange freight needs to the carrier and service providers.
Management of tools, processes, training of those interacting with customers and suppliers on how to do it quickly and accurately.
Measurement & Reporting:
Reporting and analysis of freight costs vs. freight revenues.
Common sense allocation methodologies.
Build, report and manage service, profitability KPI's by mode, by carrier/freight source
Job Requirements include:
BA with an emphasis on Supply Chain/Logistics or a minimum of 7 to 10 years in Logistics Management.
Strong process orientation and experience in planning and managing relationships with carriers, brokers and freight forwarders.
Strong knowledge of import/export regualtions and compliance with live products and seeds.
Broad knowledge and resources network to address unique logistic needs and opportunities.
Strong coaching and negotiation skills and ability to develop and mentor team members.
Some travel required to suppliers, carrier hubs and customers as deemed necessary.
